Why?

Why did we decided to do a blog? Why wasn't the social media presence enough?

The answer is simple - social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as some other more esoteric platforms have been very useful for The Beaconsfield Society over the last 10 years (Wow! if is really that long we have been on social media!!) and it has help us to reach a wide audience and promote both the Society the town and events in the town - but it doesn't work for everyone.

We have always maintained our paper newsletter and we have tried very hard to ensure our missives on social platforms is accessible but still of course a lot of people are not big users - so they miss out on our content, and some topics just do not transfer well to social media formats and platforms. Sometimes files and types of files cannot be uploaded and sometimes what we want to say doesn't fit in to the page widths. sizes and formats to really get the message across.

A blog allows us more flexibility to explain some of the big topics our town faces and we can go in to more detail and make sure people reading can understand the complexities even though they may have a basic grasp of the topic they want slight more that Facebook wants on it's page - so a Blog is our best next option.

So enter your email below and subscribe and you will hear only when we post or bookmark the page and come straight to us when you want. We will promote this blog on our other channels and we would love you to send it on to others in the town who might enjoy it.

We will be inviting other people in the town to write for the Blog by invitation and we will also try to give you a reason and well balanced approach to the bigger issues - which even having said that will certain lead to some criticising us for bias when we do not agree with them and what they stand for.

As Adora Svitak said "The first thing anyone can do, about any issue, is get informed"
